  1. Have you resided in the Greater Albany Public School District for the past year?

  2. Do you have legal residency status in the US?

  3. Is your current housing situation inadequate?
             Inadequacy may include:

    • Poor heating or wiring, a leaky roof, mold, or other factors
    • Not having enough space for your family
    • Paying 50% or more of your income towards housing

  4. Are you willing to partner with Habitat and other volunteers in the community to build your own home?

  5. Can you manage your current debt?

Sweat Equity
A Hand Up Not A Hand Out

Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into the work of their future home or homes of others.

Homeowner Hours Required:
One Adult = 250 Hrs • Two+ Adults = 500 Hrs
